With lean economic times continuing to take a toll on the workforce, the number of people hired as contingent employees – contractors, temporary personnel, short-term engagement professionals and project-based workers – continues to rise. In fact, according to recent news cited by the American Staffing Association, even school districts are dealing with budget and hiring fluctuations by hiring large numbers of their teachers and other personnel on a contingent basis as a way to maintain flexibility amidst all the change and uncertainty.
