We Have Expanded Our Insurance Team and Opened a New Banking & Financial Services Division!

SDI Staffing has been providing staffing solutions for the Insurance Industry since 1995 and is excited to announce the recent additions to our staff and our expansion into the Banking & Financial Services arena.

The new Banking & Financial Services Division will offer the same services as our Insurance Division, providing temporary, temp to hire and direct hire placements, short and long term placements, medical and maternity leave coverage, payrolling services, skills and background screening, customized screening services for clients, salary surveys, and web-based Microsoft Office tutorials. 

The Banking & Financial Services Division will be led by two seasoned professionals, Rhonda Dubski and Tina Hiner.

 COMPANY PAYABLES CLERK, JOB ID 42MC

Direct hire opportunity for a Company Payables clerk for a large independent insurance agency with their corporate office in central San Diego area.  Position is responsible for compiling and maintaining carrier accounts payable records. Processes checks, generates monthly reports, and acts as liaison between the agency and insurance companies.  Client prefers prior Insurance carrier or agency experience handling company or premium payables.  They will also consider candidates without insurance accounting experience but will require a stable job history and experience with large volume (transactions) in  A/P.  Position also requires good credit for all candidates.  Competitive Pay, depending on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generates and distribute checks written from the Company’s trust account;
  • Generates the monthly account current statement or report of bookings as required;
  • Reconciles and correct discrepancies between the Company and the insurance company’s statement or account current;
  • Notifies the servicing producer of any accounting irregularities;
  • Ensures the insurance companies are paid in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Assists the Insurance Accounts Payable Supervisor in the reconciliation of company payable to the general ledger.

****REQUIRED**** High school diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred but not required. 2 – 4 years of experience with INSURANCE PREMIUM ACCOUNTING.  Good verbal and written communication skills.  Knowledge of accounting terms.  Familiar with word processing and spreadsheet software.  Ability to file and operate general office equipment.  Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork.  Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory for this job.

 ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE CLERK, JOB ID 42MZ

Direct hire opportunity for an Accounts Receivable Clerk for a large Independent Insurance Agency in the central San Diego area.  Client will train candidate but must have 4-year college degree, good credit, and 1-3 years of accounting experience in another industry.  Client offers great benefits and the opportunity for growth within the company.  Position is mainly responsible for receiving, posting and depositing customer payments; direct bill commissions cash receipts, researching and solving payment discrepancies. Position will pay $14-15/hour.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes checks payable to the Company’s trust and operating accounts;
  • Deposits checks and posts to appropriate customer accounts or general ledger accounts;
  • Deposits direct bill cash receipts, based on the accompanying statements, posts commissions to the direct bill cash receipts screen;
  • Researches all commissions received without policy number to determine which producer should receive commission;
  • Follows up with insurance companies and unpaid commission or other accounting problems that arise within the scope of the position;
  • Handles all requests for account corrections and/or transfers;
  • Prepares and distributes daily Cash Receipts to Producers;
  • Prepares month end reconciliations and reports;
  • Notifies Account Managers of all NSF checks and stop payments.

****REQUIRED**** 4-year college degree in Accounting. 1 – 3 years of recent accounting experience. Good credit.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Basic knowledge of accounting terms. Proficient in Microsoft Office products. Ability to file and operate general office equipment. Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork. Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory for this job.

Commission Agreements Must Be in Writing By January 1, 2013!

June 19th, 2012

Effective January 1, 2013, AB 1396 requires ALL California employers to use written commission agreements that set forth the method by which commissions are computed and paid. In addition, employees are entitled to receive a signed copy of the agreement and must provide employers with a signed acknowledgment of receipt. Thus, all California employers who pay employees commissions should begin the process of developing their written commission agreements so that they are prepared to implement the agreements by January 1, 2013.

To learn more about AB 1396 and other important updates, we encourage you to join East County Personnel Association’s luncheon this week.  During this luncheon, East County Personnel Association will go over their Semi Annual Legal Update reviewing legislation, agency regulations and case law developments from the first half of 2012 and looking ahead to those anticipated in the second half of the year.  Areas to be discussed include:

  • The most important California and federal case law developments and how they impact California employers
  • The eagerly awaited Brinker v. Superior Court decision and what it means for California employers
  • The new wage notice required by the California Wage Theft Prevention Act as of January 1, 2012 – AB 469
  • The new commission plan requirements that will become effective January 1, 2013 – AB 1396
