Workers’ Compensation Division Seeks Employer Input on Current Issues

This is an open forum. Topics of discussion will include:

  • Providing appropriate medical treatment without unnecessary delay, the Medical Provider Network (MPN), Utilization Review (UR) or other issues.
  • Enabling injured workers to return to work as quickly as medically feasible.
  • Adequate compensation for permanent disabilities.
  • Reducing the burden of liens on the system.
  • Identifying appropriate fee schedules.
  • Reducing unnecessary litigation costs.
  • Assessing appropriate use of opiates and other care.
  • Any other improvements needed.

The public meeting schedule consists of the following dates and times:

Can you balance California’s budget?

Now Next 10, a nonpartisan policy organization based in San Francisco, has released an online simulator where residents can try their hand at balancing the state budget. Users decide how much to spend on education, prisons and healthcare, then they choose whether to raise or lower taxes.

The Employment Law Advisors of California invites you to join them as they again welcome Senior Labor Commissioner Linda Aguilar of the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement for a special presentation.  Commissioner Aguilar plans to discuss the long-awaited California Supreme Court decision relating to employer responsibilities to provide meal and rest breaks in the case of Brinker Restaurant Corp. et al. v. San Diego Superior Court.  The presentation will also focus on wage and hour issues, including classifying employees as exempt vs. non-exempt.
